In an exclusive interview with Bleacherreport.com, former NBA guard and ESPN commentator Michael Scott shared his thoughts on what it would be like to see a “real” football game that looks more like a Pixar movie.
Scott, who played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1994 to 2001, also revealed the best and worst things about watching the NBA in the last 25 years.
Read on to find out what Scott thinks about the NFL’s current state.1.
It looks different from the NBA: Scott, in his 30s, remembers playing the NFL in his early 20s and it was like, “Holy shit, this is the NBA.”
He has always wanted to see what the NBA’s future looks like.
He said he would like to “see a better NFL that’s really competitive and doesn’t just take the money and throw it at the players and let them play their games.”
Scott also thinks the league’s best teams would not be in the Super Bowl.
“I think it’s a shame that we have a lot of franchises in the NFL that don’t have a championship,” he said.
“The teams that are making the playoffs and the ones that are not make up the bulk of the league.
Those are the teams who are just competing and winning and winning. “
They’re not the ones who are playing for the championship.
Scott also feels that the league should look into bringing the Super Sunday game to the NFL. “
If you have that, and you can find that balance, that’s what the NFL should have.”
Scott also feels that the league should look into bringing the Super Sunday game to the NFL.
“What if we had the Super Monday game?” he said, referencing a potential NFL schedule that would feature all 32 teams.
“That would be a great idea.”2.
There would be more competition: Scott also believes the league could benefit from a bigger playoff format in the future.
He thinks the Super Sundays could help make it more difficult for a team to win a playoff spot in the NFC East.
Scott also doesn’t think the NFL is as “competitive” as it once was, and believes the sport needs to evolve into a league with more parity.
“I think the league needs to move towards a system where the top four teams win the Superbowl and the bottom four teams don’t get a chance,” he explained.
“There would be less of a gap in the playoffs between the top two teams.
That would make it easier for teams to win the championship.”
Scott believes the Super-Sunday game could be a boon for the NFL: “There are so many things that need to be done,” he continued.
“Whether it’s the coaching, whether it’s player personnel, whether that’s the league going to allow the draft to happen.
The Super-Monday game would be great for the league.”3.
The league should consider expanding to the world: Scott believes the NFL could benefit by expanding beyond its current footprint into other markets.
He also thinks that the NFL needs to continue to look at other leagues that might not have the same level of popularity as the NFL, like soccer.
Scott believes a league like the Super Saturday should be a possibility.
“That could be the next step to becoming a real thing,” he added.
“And that’s when it becomes a little more of a ‘what if?’ thing.”
